Workshop archive 2016 Morning Classes for Professionals

The enrolment period has ended but there are still places available on the course. If you'd like to sign up, please send an email to inari.pesonen@zodiak.fi

A course for dance professionals and students taught by dancer Katri Soini. Assisting the course will be dance instructor Eeva Kaario-Kela focusing on the importance of the skill of looking as part of co-working methods.

The sessions consist of dance activities and analysis of motion patterns through human anatomy and the structure of the human body. The work focuses on clarifying and deepening the articulation, directions and spatiality of motion. The experience of physical awareness is harnessed to enjoy and explore the potential of both self-started and externally induced motion. In addition to doing, the classes consist of looking, of exploring and being inspired by individual similarities and differences.

Katri Soini (1965–) is a freelance dancer and dance instructor. After gaining her MA (Dance) from the Theatre Academy she has worked for 30 years with various choreographers and has performed extensively both home and abroad. She has taught contemporary dance in dance schools, festivals, dance groups and private schools, and has received three 5-year artist grants.

Eeva Kaario-Kela's (1945–) actual profession is modern dance technique instructor. Studies with the American dancer/philosopher Erick Hawkins and the doctor/philosopher Aki Loikkanen have had a decisive impact on her methods: she has been a fanatic admirer of the architecture of the human body for more than 40 years.
