Motion in the Interstices of Dance and Theatre Improvisation
This weekend course conducted by Jukka Tarvainen explores improvisation in the interstices of dance and theatre, moving from concrete to abstract and back again. We use both clear-cut verbal instructions as well as less readily communicable impulses that rise from ourselves. We let motion take us where it will. We use sound and speech if they come. We keep the threshold of experimentation low. We dance. In addition to performing motion exercises alone we work in pairs and together as a group, always seeking a receptive, fruitful way of collaboration. No previous experience of dance or improvisation is required.
