Traces of Motion
This course conducted by Anni Rissanen focuses on exploration and capturing of motion through dance and drawing. The starting point of the course is formed by physical exercises that crystallise the perception of one's own body – its lines, anatomy and motions. The activities help the participants to be present in the moment and amplify the experiential dimension of motion and drawing. Drawing is used to illustrate the traces left by motion, to identify different qualities of motion and, on the other hand, to explore how drawing can inspire motion.
Course exercises are used to amplify the dialogue between image and motion and to make one's own visual or motion-based expression more precise. Each class focuses on a single theme in a leisurely, unhurried way. We work together as a group, in pairs and solo. The course is good for beginners and advanced dancers alike. No earlier experience of dance or drawing is required.
