School performances: Marc Philipp Gabriel – Maija Karhunen: AJIMA

Zodiak and Ruutia! Festival will organize in collaboration in April two free performances of AJIMA, a piece by Maija Karhunen and Marc Philipp Gabriel. The performances are directed for upper comprehensive schools, vocational schools and high schools.

What is at stake in this process of routinely making assumptions and casting projections on each other and on ourselves? In AJIMA, our desires to see somebody being or doing something are constantly being re-negotiated.

AJIMA is a collaboration between choreographer and director Marc Philipp Gabriel, performer Maija Karhunen and scenographer-visualist Friederike Meese. AJIMA was seen in Zodiak’s programme in January 2018.

The performances for schools include a pre-talk, plus a post-performance discussion about the work and about how to approach differences. The free performances are supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The main programme of Ruutia! will also include one performance of AJIMA on Thursday 23.4. at 18:00.

Performance language: English. The pre-talk and post-performance discussion can be held either in Finnish or in English.
