In the senior course led by Kati Raatikainen, we explore thoroughly how our bodies move and what kind of movement feels natural while also observing the choreographic relationships between individuals.
In the Group A of the senior course led by Kati Raatikainen, we will create a performance draft and perform it at the end of the course on Saturday, November 4th, at 6 PM. The classes of the second group, Group B, will not focus on creating a performance draft. However, it is not obligatory to participate in the performance even if you take the classes of the Group A.
Group A (at 10.00-11.30) Course Description:
We approach movement by focusing on aspects such as breath, bones, body fluids, and muscles. The classes consist of guided improvisation exercises in which participants can adapt the instructions to their own bodies. Some exercises are performed by fully immersing ourselves in our personal movement patterns and self-expression, while in others, we move collectively as a group or in pairs. Each participant can choose their preferred way of interacting, touching, being touched, or maintaining physical distance. During the classes, we use music and silence in various ways and explore the rhythm and temporality of our bodies in relation to space.
Between the movement exercises, we embark on constructing a performance draft through individually and collectively discovered pathways, forms, and expressions. The course concludes with an open demo performance on Saturday, November 4th, at 6 PM at Zodiak Studio C4. Participation in the classes does not oblige you to participate in the performance.
