Join us in a workshop focusing on choreographer Sari Palmgren's Lame Tamer, a performance that explores subjugation, the animal side of humanity and relationships between human beings and those between human beings and animals. The core of the ideology underlying the subjugation of others is an acceptance of the power of reason over nature. The foundation of this notion is established by the dichotomies that structure Western thinking, such as reason/emotion, male/female, mind/body and society/nature.

Lame Tamer brings to the stage both these dichotomies and the nature as a whole where everything has its place. What is our attitude to other bodies – as something to be consumed, watched and used? Or could the others be valuable just as they are? The question asked by the performance is: Could the human being be a companion instead of a ruler?

The workshop explores the themes of the performance through motion exercises and discussions, and prepares a demo performance.

The workshop begins in January 2019, and the demo is performed on Zodiak Stage on Saturday, 6 April. Group size will be approximately 20 participants. For more information, please e-mail or
