In the fall of 2023, the dance performance PLAY (with me) will premiere at the Zodiak - New Dance Center. The working group is looking for children to join the work as part of the performing group.
PLAY (with me) dance piece deals with play, age and issues of power. Both adults and children appear in the work.
The working group of the piece is looking for children aged 7-10 who are interested in performing, dancing and moving. However, it is not necessary to have previous experience. Six to eight children will be selected. The children will participate in the production of the piece and perform in the dance piece with professional adult dancers.
The working group includes choreographer Virva Talonen, dance artists Karolina Ginman, Jenni Koistinen, Jukka Tarvainen, Leo Terävä and lighting designer Nanni Vapaavuori, sound designer Markus Heino.
Preliminary rehearsal schedule for the dance piece:
- In the spring season, there are exercises once a week in March–April, approximately 10 times. Rehearsals take place on weekday evenings at Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki.
- In the summer, the exercises are in the form of a day camp from 19.–22.6, from 9.00-15.00 in Helsinki.
- In the fall, there are rehearsals in September–November at Kaapelitehdas. From the beginning of the season there are rehearsals once a week, as the premiere approaches more often.
- Premiere and performances in November-December 2023 at Zodiak - Center for New Dance
The audition workshop event will be held in Studio C4 at Zodiak - Center for New Dance at Kaapelitehdas on February 4-5 from 10.00-12.00 (group 1) and from 13.00-15.00 (group 2). We hope that the participants will commit to both days.
The event is open to everyone and free of charge. The event can accommodate 30 children in order of registration. In addition to Finnish, Swedish and English can also be spoken at the event if necessary.
Compensation is paid to the children included in the work.
