In this course led by Annamari Keskinen we move guided by imaginative prompts that take shape as physical experiences.
This Indulge the Movement -course will help you explore movement that is not defined by any specific technique. Instead, you are encouraged to approach tasks from your own abilities and interests, drawing on improvisation and music.
Informed by her experience as a performer, Annamari will guide the participants in shifting from one bodily state to another, and in observing the multilayered nature of embodied emotional and conscious states. The goal is to reach towards currents that move through the body and around it – towards what may remain unspoken and fleeting, yet is deeply tied to embodied existence.
Building confidence with each class, we will develop a deeper understanding of our own physical, emotional and conceptual landscape. Is there something you are particularly drawn to, or something you want to let go of? Through these questions, we map out strategies for change and adaptation, surrendering to the shared space with a playful approach, both individually and collectively.
Annamari creates a welcoming atmosphere where you can curiously explore your own inner world and imagine new ways of being and moving. She emphasises presence, sensoriality and attention to subtle nuances, offering a safe yet open space where you can both receive and create, and surrender to moments of insight and collective attunement.
Annamari Keskinen, born in 1985, is a Finnish performer, choreographer and one of the founding members of the dance theatre company Thar Be Dragons, alongside performer and choreographer Ryan Mason. Over the past 20 years, Annamari has worked internationally in the dance field.
As a performer, she has worked in several European countries, both as a freelance artist and company dancer with municipal and state theatre dance companies. She has collaborated with internationally acclaimed choreographers, such as Chris Haring, Rafael Bonachela, Andonis Foniadakis, Stephanie Thiersch, Helder Seabra, Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea, and worked extensively with Johannes Wieland and Valtteri Raekallio. Her professional career encompasses more than 70 artistic productions under the direction of 30 choreographers.
In her artistic work, Annamari seeks to move between conscious and subconscious, in bold and vulnerable spaces that allow diverse experiences and meanings to emerge. Within these experiential fields, it is possible to reach both personal and collectively shared levels – something that cannot always be expressed in words but is felt in the body and mind.
