Recharge through movement and discover collective joy and energy in this course for seniors.

Guided by Karoliina Loimaala, this course draws from the artistic work she developed for her performance Charge (2024–2025). Together, we will find strength through movement and playful characters, discovering new forms of energy within ourselves through a practice called ‘dance trance’.

Dance trance is a durational exercise in which we enter a world shaped by joyful movement, roaring music, repetition and connection with fellow dancers. You will be encouraged to explore different characters within yourself, from superheroes to conductors. Through these characters, we approach sensations of capability, humour and the joy of encountering others and being seen. Life experience, joy and vitality are given space to bubble up and flourish in this workshop.

The classes include dance and choreographic tasks used in the making of Charge. You will have the opportunity to explore your own ways of recharging through movement, working with varying intensities and the musicality of dance.

This course is open to everyone, and all exercises can be adapted to suit different physical abilities and movement experiences.
