We are now calling for proposals for premiere productions in the Zodiak Stage S and M categories for 2028 and spring 2029.

Zodiak Stage is a category for small (S) or medium-sized (M) productions. Premieres in this category are planned for Zodiak Stage. The category is open to artists at various stages of their careers. The open call is primarily aimed at artists residing in Finland, as Zodiak is unable to assist with artists' travel and accommodation costs. Zodiak commits to S and M co-productions at least one year before the premiere.

Zodiak Stage is a space where both artists and audiences can take risks. In Zodiak's programming, Stage is definitely a place for new experiments in terms of both content and work formats. Both small and medium-sized productions are possible in the space, making it the only space with two different production categories. The versatility of the venue enables diverse audience relationships and, hopefully, formats we cannot even imagine yet.

Zodiak Stage support includes:

Production Support S

  • €10,000.00 (VAT 0%), intended to be allocated to artistic and administrative work (amount confirmed annually based on Zodiak's funding)

Other support:

  • Studio rehearsal time: minimum 4 weeks and maximum 8 weeks, depending on the production plan
  • At least 1 week of stage rehearsal time before the premiere
  • The performance venue and Zodiak Stage's technical equipment
  • Assistance from Zodiak’s technical staff in setup and performances
  • Support from the producer and technical team during production planning
  • Promotional and performance photos, and a video teaser
  • Marketing across Zodiak's channels, press releases
  • One audience event alongside performances
  • A podcast episode
  • Advance and door ticketing services
  • Mentorship and dialogue partnership with Zodiak’s Artistic Director
  • Opportunity for assistance in tour production planning and execution (conditional, dependent on funding)

The goal is 5–7 performances primarily at Zodiak Stage. Minimum seating capacity at Stage is 75 seats / performance. Audience target: 400–500.

Production Support M

  • €20,000.00 (VAT 0%), intended to be allocated to artistic and administrative work (amount confirmed annually based on Zodiak's funding)

Other support:

  • Studio rehearsal time: minimum 8 weeks and maximum 12 weeks, depending on the production plan
  • At least 2 weeks of stage rehearsal time before the premiere
  • The performance venue and Zodiak Stage's technical equipment
  • Assistance from Zodiak’s technical staff in setup and performances
  • Support from the producer and technical team during production planning
  • Promotional and performance photos, and a video teaser
  • Marketing across Zodiak's channels, press releases
  • At least one audience event alongside performances
  • A podcast episode
  • Advance and door ticketing services
  • Mentorship and dialogue partnership with Zodiak’s Artistic Director
  • Opportunity for assistance in tour production planning and execution (conditional, dependent on funding)
