In this course we aim to find spaces in which we can connect with ourselves and the world around us through street dances and traditional Ghanaian music.
In Ama Kyei's course, we seek connection with ourselves and the world around us, and a sense of freedom.
In the classes, we improvise to house, R&B, hip-hop, and traditional Ghanaian music, aiming to find spaces in which we can connect with ourselves and the world around us.
Ama's background is in street dance and traditional West African dances. The philosophy underlying these traditions, particularly around freedom and the significance of movement, has greatly influenced Ama's approach to dance and teaching. That said, the classes do not focus on the aesthetics or steps of these styles. You are warmly welcome, regardless of how you move!
