During the course led by Anna Mustonen, we dance by listening closely to our bodies. Through bodily exercises, we surrender to the feeling of dance, let loose and soften our bodies, and allow our perception to become more focused.

At the beginning of the class, we tune into our bodies and listening, from which we move on to various verbally guided bodily exercises. Each participant dances from their own starting point, giving space to others. Some of the exercises are performed in close relation to the music – by listening simultaneously our bodies and the music. Each session ends with a guided relaxation exercise.

Anna Mustonen is a choreographer, dancer and teacher who has created dance and performance art pieces since 2007. Anna enjoys working on long-term and interdisciplinary processes that allow rethinking of collaboration and ways of performing. She works through listening, feeling, noticing, and not knowing. Anna's most recent works at Zodiak, created in collaboration with harpsichordist Marianne Henriksson, include the large-scale stage works Maria-vesper (Pannu Hall, Helsinki, 2018) and Eros (Erkko Hall of Dance House Helsinki, 2022) that combine early Baroque music and new dance. Anna has taught courses and classes in dance and choreography for more than ten years, for example, at Tanssivintti, the Theatre Academy of Uniarts Helsinki and Tanssille ry. She is also a member of the art association i dolci and art community rendezvous, and one of the co-directors of Tanssivintti.
