This workshop by Johanna Nuutinen focuses on awakening the bodily imagination and feeling the pleasure and the flow of motion. The classes consist of exercises based on tai chi that awaken the flow of energy in the body, and of activities that strengthen the core and the rear parts of the body. They also feature improvisation tasks that support body articulation and spatial perception. They help the participants establish a connection to motion that is present and pleasurable and to tap into the bodily imagination. The classes also explore the motion-material of Nuutinen's work OPIO.

Johanna Nuutinen is a dance artist based in Helsinki. She has created artworks in the form of films and stage performances in the intersections of visual and performing arts since 2011. In 2017, she was awarded a three-year grant by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and she currently works as a freelance artist. She has behind her a successful career of 15 years in the Finnish National Ballet, where she danced in several solo roles since being contracted in 2002. Her latest works include IRIS – Dance in the Fissures of Humanity (2017) and ANON – The Act of Waiting (2018).

With the exception of injuries and illnesses certified in writing by a doctor, cancellations made later than the deadline are subject to full course fee. An administrative fee, 10 % of the course fee, will be charged from all cancellations.
