This period, entitled The Gift of the Gaze, focuses on motion produced under the gaze of the other.
Course exercises move between the spheres of private, personal experience of motion and that of becoming seen by others. Moving, looking, being looked at; making performative gifts with a light touch.
Pietari Kärki (they/them), alias Pie Kär, is a dancer/performer currently in the final stages of choreography studies in the Theatre Academy. As a choreographer, Pietari is especially interested in observing the public space, while as a performer the primary focus is on the performer’s relationship with the audience. In 2020, Pietari Kärki performs in Mikko Makkonen’s Actions x Figures, part of Zodiak’s Autumn line-up.
