Our core mission is to co-produce and stage new Finnish contemporary dance performances. Zodiak's program of performances is artistically curated and primarily based on an open call. The majority of Zodiak’s performances take place on our home stage in Cable Factory in the district of Ruoholahti in Helsinki, but some performances are also produced in other venues.

Zodiak’s production activities are based on a changing line-up of artists in different productions, financial co-production support and an extensive offering of premieres. Zodiak’s call for productions takes place every year in early autumn.

Zodiak’s primary venue is the Zodiak Stage at the Cable Factory. In addition to its own studio stage, Zodiak regularly produces performances to Cultural Centre Stoa in Itäkeskus (2019—2021) and various other urban spaces.

Zodiak co-produces approximately 12–15 Finnish premieres every year. In addition to premieres, Zodiak arranges international and domestic guest performances and tours of Zodiak productions in Finland and abroad.

In addition to regular performances with tickets, Zodiak arranges performances and events that are free of charge, such as demo performances in connection with Zodiak’s artist residence programs. Our audience work also often takes the form of performances given free of charge.

The Sivuaskel / Side Step Festival that showcases the latest trends in contemporary choreography is arranged every year. Zodiak also participates in international co-productions, artist exchange initiatives and artist residence programs.
