ActsAndAffects, the latest performance by choreographer Kirsi Monni & co, explores questions and experiences evoked by the relationship between violent media images and reality. It reflects on how the starting points of choreographic stage performance and physicality can be used to process and deconstruct these experiences.

Staged in Cable Factory’s Pannuhalli, ActsAndAffects interprets the present as a repetition of archaic and historic elements. It is an earthly requiem, a choreographic trance ritual and a post-abstract performance that visits a place we cannot understand and cannot cease to marvel; how is it possible that...?

Kirsi Monni is one of the foremost choreographers of the Finnish contemporary dance scene and one of Zodiak's founders. ActsAndAffects is her return to the role of the choreographer after a hiatus of ten years. It is created as a collective effort by Monni, long time collaborators Joona Halonen and Mikko Hynninen, and young dancers Krista-Julia Arppo, Soili Huhtakallio, Johannes Purovaara and Guillermo Sarduy.
