In Cock, Cock... Who’s there? Samira Elagoz combines autobiographic and documentary fiction and photography to the present moment of the performance. The performance turns an analytic, investigative gaze to our conceptions of and attitudes towards rape and the story of one rape survivor, to what happens after becoming a victim of sexual violence. The process also touches on her family and friends, who appear in the film.

Elagoz refuses to assume the role of a victim, lose her sexuality or stop wanting to present herself as a sexual being. Instead, she rebuilds her relationship to men, intimacy and sexuality personally, artistically and on the level of anthropological study. Elagoz uses online services such as Craigslist and Tinder to arrange intimate, absurd and humoristic encounters with unknown people – and shoots them on video. Using performance and film, Elagoz tells the story of recovering from a trauma and edits her experiences into new, empowering reality.

Elagoz has won numerous awards for Cock, Cock... Who’s there?, including the Prix Jardin d'Europe for emerging choreographer in 2017.
