Koreografit Mart Kangro ja Tomi Paasonen kutsuvat osallistumaan työpajoihin. Näissä ammattilaisille suunnatuissa työpajoissa koreografit toivovat tutustuvansa uusiin tanssijoihin tulevia teoksiaan silmällä pitäen – ja vastavuoroisesti tanssijat pääsevät tutustumaan kyseisten koreografien työskentelytapoihin! Työpajat ovat ilmaisia.

Mart Kangron työpaja järjestetään 17.–19.11.2010. Työpaja päättyy pienimuotoiseen esiintymiseen Baltic Circle -festivaalin Finnish Line-up -seminaarissa Q-teatterissa 19.11. Kangrolta on tulossa teos Zodiakin ohjelmistoon elokuussa 2011. Tomi Paasosen työpaja on 26.11. Paasosen seuraava teos saa ensi-iltansa Zodiakin ohjelmistossa toukokuussa 2011. INSTANT PERFORMING LABORATORY
Dear Artist,
My new group work Talk to Me, Dance to Me will premiere in August 2011 in Helsinki in collaboration with Kanuti Gildi Saal, Tallinn and Zodiak – Center for New Dance.
Talk to Me, Dance to Me is an interactive performance which circles around psychology of the individual and around parameters which are considered important for human self-determination. It questions the existential struggles leading the individual into a social isolation that provokes living in distorted reality or in a fantasy as an alternative to incomprehensible everyday. The performance will not be a social study on human psychology but will rather try to reflect on aspects of solitude and escapism. Especially in relation to the duality of real and imaginary, highlighting the paradoxes that lie in the process of interpretation of one's own everyday. The parallel with theatre, where the question of realness is fundamental and stands behind every single reading is not accidental. The performance hopefully initiates questions about one's personal way of perceiving dance, theatre and life in general, furthermore arises one's awareness about the process of evaluation.
In order to make the creative process more dynamic, mobile as well as to extend my usual habits of working I decided to invite some Finnish artists/ dancers/ performers to take part in a laboratory which should result in a small informal public happening. I call this initiative Instant Performing Laboratory. For me the meaning of a word "instant" has a connotation of a change. Something becomes different than it was before. Instant performing indicates a transformation in a state of being – now I start to perform, now I'm something else than I was a second ago. Becoming something different in this very moment interests me in relation to the question of real and pretense in theatre. My wish is to debate and try out practically some of the ideas related to the topics described above and to the ontology of dance theatre in general. I would propose how to structure the process and questions to work/debate. But moreover it should be an opportunity to discuss and work whatever kind of ideas one might find relevant and what are possible to realise in such a format. Most of all it should be presentation without much preparation. I also see this laboratory as an encounter in order to find asrtists who would be interested in participating in my new project as performers.
The Laboratory is organized in collaboration with Zodiak – Center for New Dance and Kanuti Gildi Saal in Tallinn.

TOMI PAASOSEN TYÖPAJA

Paikka: Zodiakin harjoitussali C4
Tomi Paasonen etsii työpajan ohessa neljää tanssijaa (miehiä ja naisia) Monogram-teokseen, joka saa ensi-iltansa toukokuussa Zodiakissa. Monogram-teos on omaperäiseen tanssiin, tanssijaan, liikekielen yksityiskohtiin ja koreografiseen liikkeeseen keskittyvä tanssiteos neljälle tanssisolistille. Koreografia perustuu tanssijoitten omaan henkilökohtaiseen nimeen, nimikirjoitukseen ja käsialaan.
Tomi Paasosen improvisaatiomenetelmät perustuvat fysiikan lakeihin, neurologiaan, käyttäen painovoimaa, energiatehokkuutta, olennaisia/keskeisiä vs ylimääräisiä liikekonsepteja sekä koordinaatiosääntöjä, säädentämään mistä ja mihin liikeimpulsseja voidaan kehittää. Käyttäen mielikuvitusta, muistia ja havaitsemiskykyä, hän pyrkii kehittämään tanssijan omaa henkilöllistä liiketyyliä.
