Sonya Lindfors (Cameroon / Finland) and Sabina Bočková & Johana Pocková / POCKETART (The Czech Republic) have been selected as the newest Big Pulse artists and will have new works co-produced by Big Pulse Dance Alliance.

Since its inception in December 2020, Big Pulse Dance Alliance has been working towards its aims of developing and strengthening the contemporary dance sector across Europe through the creation of a series of programmes, co-productions and support for artists.

Over the last 18 months, 7 artists have been co-produced to develop new choreographies, with Siguifin by Amala Dianor, Bosque / Woods by Clarice Lima, Catarina Saraiva, Nina Fajdiga & Aline Bonamin and City Horses by Byström Källblad having already premiered and toured extensively across European venues and festivals to an overwhelming response from audiences. Taneli Törma / LOCATION X’s ALIEN also premiered recently and Oona Doherty is also set to premiere her Big Pulse co-production, Navy Blue, in August at Sommertanz Festival Kampnagel.

Following this success, Big Pulse is delighted to announce a further two co-productions selected as part of the Scaling Up programme: One Drop by Sonya Lindfors and Fairy Tales by Sabina Bočková & Johana Pocková / POCKETART.

Sonya Lindfors, a choreographer, artistic director and educator, pursues creating and facilitating anti-racist and feminist platforms, using festivals, performances, publications or workshops as the site of empowerment and radical collective dreaming. Lindfors’s latest choreography, One Drop, will interrogate questions around the spectacle of otherness as well as the intricate relationalities between modernity and colonialism and will premiere in May 2023.

Sabina Bočková & Johana Pocková, both choreographers from The Czech Republic, are joint directors of the collective POCKETART, a team of creators working in the field of contemporary dance and physical theatre. In their new creation being developed as part of the Big Pulse Scaling Up programme, Bočková & Pocková aim to create a new fairy tale for a post-modern world. A space where we can look at all the different aspects of women`s search for freedom and fulfilment to find (at least for a little moment) a happy ending.

The Big Pulse Scaling Up programme is a series of co-productions focused on supporting dance artists transition to producing work for the large stages and theatres in Europe, adding variety to programming on these stages and both engaging existing audiences and reaching out to new ones.
